So why is twenty minutes plenty well hello because I am corny as all hell and it rhymes with plenty. Ha Ha!

No for reals, I am doing a Wellness Fitness Challenge starting in January and one of the requirements is to exercise 6 days a week for 20 minutes. I am not going to get into the challenge in this blog post. So, if you want more info and want to sign up click here for more info if that is something you want to do in the first of the year.

Why did I pick 20 and why did I pick 6 days?

Its about building habits that are going to be sustainable we are thinking long game here.
See 20 minutes is something everybody has, you can do 20 minutes, I promise.

I mean you have 20 minutes to check the Amazon sales in your email right, Check your Facebook or Instagram page. Maybe you putz around on the target website or check out a new Netflix series which all take way over those 20 minutes I am talking about. See we all have 20!

So that is why 20 minutes because its something you can do forever no matter what
and 6 days because in order to have a habit stick you have to rinse and repeat for days!

But Seriously, 20 is plenty in regards to exercise. People always say to me, “Come on Yvette 20 minutes? I mean what can I really get accomplished?” So I will say to that “What? I mean seriously have you tried running for 20 minutes or 20 minutes of burpees,  jump rope. anyone? Yeah I bet if you have its HARD!”

Like for reals 20 is plenty if you are getting your heart rate jacked up. PERIOD! Now don’t get me wrong you’re not going into any body building show with 20 minutes, but you can get in a great workout, lose weight, feel amazing, and make better food choices because you exercised. See how that works. Those endorphins are like taking a happy pill everyday and who doesn’t want that?

What I do want is for most people to realize that its not an all or nothing thing. People tell me I don’t have time so they don’t exercise. But listen if you just did 20 minutes 4 times a week that would be 208 workouts.

You see we all want to be fit, but heres the the thing we don’t get what we want we get what we choose.

So what do you choose: 0 workouts or 208 workouts? Don’t be a zero be a hero and choose 208! OMG… I am a rhyming machine today!

What Constitutes Exercise?

Well if you are new to exercise anything that gets your heart rate up.

  • Jog/walk
  • Bodyweight circuits
  • Elliptical
  • Dancing
  • Get a set of dumbbells and do some simple workouts at home
  • Just pick something and go with it!

Check out my Youtube videos and you will have tons of options to workout to including dumbbell, kettlebell, body weight and more. Here is one of my body weight workouts that you can do with no equipment what so ever. And you guessed it is 20 minutes long!

Here is another quick under 20 minute workout to try ladies…

  • 20 bodyweight squats
  • 10 push ups
  • 20 walking lunges – 10 each leg
  • 10 tricep dips
  • 15 second plank
  • 30 jumping jacks
